Individual Therapy for Children & Teens
Compassionate, one-on-one support tailored to your child's unique needs, whether they're 4 or 17.
Therapy That Meets Your Child Where They Are
Every child experiences the world differently, and every child deserves to be met with care that fits who they are.
At Resilient Kids, individual therapy is designed around your child's age, developmental stage, and personal needs. There's no one-size-fits-all approach here.
For younger children, that might mean working through feelings with toys, art, and stories. For teens, it might look more like an honest conversation in a space where they feel safe to open up without judgment. Whatever the approach, the goal is the same: helping your child build the emotional tools they need to navigate life with confidence and resilience.
Our therapists are trained in a range of evidence-based approaches and will work with you and your child to find the path that fits best.
What We Help With
Children and teens come to us for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes it's a specific event. Sometimes it's a pattern that's been building over time. And sometimes, parents just sense that something feels off and want support in figuring out what their child needs.
For younger children who don't yet have the words for what they're feeling, play therapy is often the starting point. Play therapy is a therapeutic approach designed specifically for children, typically ages 3 through 12, that uses toys, art, storytelling, and games as the language of healing. In a safe, welcoming space filled with carefully chosen materials, children express emotions they can't yet verbalize, process difficult experiences, practice problem-solving, and develop healthier ways to cope.
It might look like "just playing" from the outside, but the therapeutic relationship and the therapist's clinical training make it something much deeper. Research shows that play therapy is effective for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, trauma, behavioral challenges, grief, and social difficulties.
If you're not sure whether therapy is the right step for your child, that's okay. We offer a free consultation call to help you think it through.

Therapy for Teens & Adolescents
The teen years bring a unique set of pressures: academic stress, shifting friendships, identity questions, social media, family tension, and the challenge of growing into who they are.
It's a lot, and many teens carry more than the adults around them realize.
Our therapists create a confidential, judgment-free space where teens can be honest about what they're going through. Sessions are collaborative, not lecture-based. We meet teens as partners in their own growth, helping them build coping skills, process difficult emotions, and develop a stronger sense of who they are.
We work with teens on concerns like anxiety and overwhelm, depression and hopelessness, trauma and painful experiences, self-esteem and body image, identity and self-discovery, anger and emotional regulation, school-related stress, and navigating relationships with peers and family.
Teens often tell us that therapy is the one place where they feel heard without being told what to do. That matters to us.
Every Child Deserves to Feel Understood
You know your child best. If something feels off, trust that instinct. We're here to help you take the next step.
How We Work
Play Therapy
A child-centered approach that uses toys, art, and storytelling to help younger children express emotions and build coping skills. We also offer Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which coaches parents in real time to strengthen the parent-child relationship.
Trauma-Focused CBT
(TF-CBT)
An evidence-based approach for children and teens recovering from trauma. TF-CBT combines cognitive techniques with trauma-sensitive strategies to support healing in a structured, gentle way.
EMDR
A powerful trauma therapy that helps children and teens process distressing memories without being overwhelmed. EMDR uses guided eye movements to reduce the emotional intensity of difficult experiences.
CBT
A practical, goal-oriented approach that helps children and teens identify unhelpful thought patterns and replace them with healthier, more balanced ways of thinking.
DBT Skills
Teaches skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and building distress tolerance. Especially helpful for teens navigating emotional overwhelm.
Your Role as a Parent
At Resilient Kids, we believe that families are a vital part of the healing process. Children don't exist in a vacuum, and the progress made in therapy is strongest when it's supported at home.
Regular Check-Ins
You'll have ongoing conversations with your child's therapist to stay informed and ask questions about how things are going.
Collaborative Goal-Setting
You're always part of the plan. We set goals together so everyone is aligned on what we're working toward.
Skills for Home
We'll share guidance on how to reinforce the skills your child is building in therapy so that progress carries into everyday life.
Additional Support When Needed
If family therapy or parent support would help, we'll talk through those options with you openly
You know your child better than anyone. We see our role as partnering with you, not replacing your instincts. Together, we'll build a plan that helps your child grow.

There's no checklist that makes the decision for you. But if your child is struggling with big emotions, changes in behavior, difficulty at school, withdrawal from friends or activities, or if you just feel like something is off, those are all valid reasons to reach out. You don't need a diagnosis or a crisis to start. We offer a free consultation call where we can talk through what you're seeing and help you figure out if therapy is the right next step.

We work with children as young as 3 and teens through age 18. For younger children, we primarily use play therapy, which is specifically designed for kids who may not yet have the language to talk about their feelings. For teens, sessions are more conversational and collaborative. We tailor our approach to your child's developmental stage.
-
Every child is different, so there's no set timeline. Some children benefit from a few months of focused work, while others may need longer-term support. Your child's therapist will work with you to set goals and check in regularly on progress. We'll always be open with you about how things are going and what we recommend.
-
Yes. We believe families are a key part of the process. You'll have regular check-ins with your child's therapist, collaborative goal-setting, and guidance on how to support your child's growth at home. At the same time, we respect your child's need for a confidential space where they feel safe to open up.
-
We do. Teletherapy is available for Delaware residents and works especially well for teens and older children who can engage comfortably in a video session. For younger children, in-person sessions are often a better fit so we can incorporate play-based approaches. We're happy to talk through which option makes the most sense for your child.
